Article summary
This post hoc preprint reanalysed the KARE alcohol-use-disorder trial (96 randomised; 85 with follow-up diary data). Its main contrast compared ketamine plus mindfulness-based support (n=20) with saline plus psychoeducation (n=23). Across weeks 17β24, days abstinent were 78.5% versus 57.8% (p=.032). The proportion with no heavy drinking days at weeks 21β24 was higher numerically, but not significantly (50.0% versus 26.1%; p=.127). This treatment-package comparison does not isolate ketamineβs effect, and comparisons with other medicines were indirect.
