Caring for the Vine
Indigenous communities in Acre and ayahuasca religions are increasingly shifting from wild harvesting to cultivation, nurseries, agroforestry, and institutional conservation. These initiatives are in response to rising global demand, local scarcity, and environmental pressure. While caapi remains resilient, uneven practices and expanding ceremonies threaten sustainability, requiring coordinated cultivation, forest preservation, and responsible management.
